Forward MCP is an open-source server that provides a set of tools and APIs for interacting with Forward Networks’ platform. It enables automation, analysis, and integration with network data using the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

Built with hexagonal architecture for clean separation of concerns and easy extensibility. Runs locally over stdio, or as a remote server over Streamable HTTP.

MCP Skills Extension

Forward-MCP now serves its guide skill to every MCP client, following the MCP Skills extension (io.modelcontextprotocol/skills). An agent connected to the server can find and load the instructions for using its tools, without a copy of this repository.

• skills_list returns each skill with its frontmatter and a manifest of its files (skill:// URI, SHA-256 digest, size).
• skills_get returns one skill by URI, for example skill://forward-mcp-guide/SKILL.md.
• Every skill file is an MCP resource under its skill:// URI; read it with resources/read.
