Local Skills Agent is an agentic AI system powered by Ollama that can autonomously create and extend its own capabilities. Built as a local-first reimplementation of Claude Skills, it runs entirely on your hardware with no external API dependencies.

🚀 Quick Start

Prerequisites

• Python 3.11+ - Download
• Ollama - Install
• uv (recommended) or pip

Installation (2 minutes)

# 1. Clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/ArneJanning/local-skills-agent.git
cd local-skills-agent

# 2. Start Ollama (in a separate terminal)
ollama serve

# 3. Pull recommended model
ollama pull gpt-oss:20b

# 4. Install the package
uv pip install -e .
# or: pip install -e .

# 5. Run it!
skills

Your First Interaction

$ skills

You: What can you do?
Agent: [Lists 8 available skills including skill_creator]

You: Create a skill that checks if Python imports are properly sorted
Agent: [Creates .skills/import_checker.md]

You: Check the imports in my main.py file
Agent: [Uses the newly created skill immediately]
