What this is
MindMap AI runs a hosted remote MCP server at https://mindmapai.app/mcp. There is nothing to install or run locally. You add the URL to your MCP client, sign in with your MindMap AI account, and start asking your assistant to build mind maps.
This repository holds the documentation, tool reference, and client configuration examples for that server. It does not contain the server source code, and the server is not self-hostable.
What it does
Once connected, you can ask your AI assistant to:
- Create a new mind map from a topic, a brainstorm, notes, or documents you share in the conversation
- Pull content from other connected apps (meeting notes, Notion pages, a local repo) and turn it into one map
- List and search your existing mind maps
- View a map’s full canvas and nodes, rendered in the chat
- Add, edit, move, reorder, or delete nodes
- Add relationship arrows (for concept maps) and summary brackets (to group ideas)
- Switch between Mind Map, Logic Chart, and Org Chart layouts
- Apply themes and custom canvas styles
- Export a map (formats depend on your plan)
- Update an existing map in place, so you can re-run a prompt later and the same map is updated rather than recreated
Everything you create is saved to your MindMap AI account. Open any map at mindmapai.app to keep editing on the full canvas.
Quick start
- Add
https://mindmapai.app/mcpas a remote MCP server in your client (see client setup below). - Your client redirects you to MindMap AI to sign in. Create a free account if you don’t have one.
- Approve the connection. This uses OAuth 2.1. No API key is needed and your client never sees your password.
- Try: “Create a mind map about the Butterfly Effect using MindMap AI.”
Client setup
Claude (web, desktop, mobile)
MindMap AI is listed in the Claude connector directory. Open Settings → Connectors, find MindMap AI, and click Connect. Or go directly to claude.ai/directory/mindmap-ai.
