Turn any script, article, lesson, or outline into a consistent set of whiteboard-style illustrations—one clear visual per idea.

Overview

Turn any script, article, lesson, or outline into a consistent set of whiteboard-style illustrations—one clear visual per idea. Attach your script or paste it below the prompt: That is enough. The skill will segment the script, choose a visual structure for every idea, create the prompts, generate a sample, and prepare the final review. Open review.html to review the complete storyboard without jumping between files. Attach a style image and optionally a mascot image: 1. Reads the entire script before making visual decisions. 2. Splits it into small, meaningful beats without rewriting the source. 3. Chooses the right visual form for each beat: scene, metaphor, contrast, journey, flow, hierarchy, loop, checklist, and more. 4. Writes a complete image prompt with consistent style and mascot direction. 5. Creates one representative sample before a large batch unless you request immediate generation. 6. Generates or hands off the images. 7. Validates every beat and expected image. 8.

Script to Whiteboard Storyboard

Turn any script, article, lesson, or outline into a consistent set of whiteboard-style illustrations—one clear visual per idea.

The skill handles the whole workflow:

Script → visual beats → image prompts → storyboard images → side-by-side review

Fastest way to use it

1. Install the skill

Run this once:

git clone https://github.com/Samin12/script-to-whiteboard-storyboard.git \
  ~/.codex/skills/script-to-whiteboard-storyboard

Restart Codex after installation.

2. Paste this prompt

Attach your script or paste it below the prompt:

Use $script-to-whiteboard-storyboard.

Turn this script into a whiteboard storyboard.
Use the included style and mascot.
Generate one sample image for approval first.
Then create a side-by-side review page.

That is enough. The skill will segment the script, choose a visual structure for every idea, create the prompts, generate a sample, and prepare the final review.

What you receive

your-project/
├── storyboard.json # Every script beat and image direction

└── review.html # Script and images shown side by side

Open review.html to review the complete storyboard without jumping between files.

Useful prompt recipes

Generate the full storyboard immediately

Use $script-to-whiteboard-storyboard to turn the attached script into a
complete storyboard. Generate every image immediately without waiting for
sample approval, validate the result, and build the review page.

Create only the plan and prompts

Use $script-to-whiteboard-storyboard to segment this script and create
storyboard.json plus all image prompts. Do not generate the images yet.

Use your own visual style

Attach a style image and optionally a mascot image:

Use $script-to-whiteboard-storyboard with my attached style and mascot
references. Preserve their visual identity across every frame.

Resume an interrupted batch

Use $script-to-whiteboard-storyboard to resume this storyboard project.
Skip completed images, generate the missing frames, validate everything,
and rebuild review.html.

How it works

  8. Builds a polished HTML review page.

Included visual system

The default look is ready to use:

  • clean 16:9 white paper canvas;
  • hand-drawn black marker lines;
  • pale yellow highlights and numbered circles;
  • restrained pink arrows and emphasis;
  • an orange blocky mascot used as an actor or guide;
  • clear editorial spacing that remains readable at thumbnail size.

The included references are:

Optional command-line tools

You do not need to run these manually when Codex is handling the project. They are available for validation, batch generation, and review rebuilding.

Requirements:

  • Node.js 18 or newer
  • Higgsfield CLI only when using generate-images.mjs

No npm install is required.

Validate the storyboard

node scripts/validate-storyboard.mjs \
  --manifest /absolute/path/to/storyboard.json

Validate both the manifest and generated images:

node scripts/validate-storyboard.mjs \
  --manifest /absolute/path/to/storyboard.json \
  --images /absolute/path/to/images

Preview a generation without spending credits

node scripts/generate-images.mjs \
  --manifest /absolute/path/to/storyboard.json \
  --output /absolute/path/to/images \
  --style-ref assets/style-reference.png \
  --mascot-ref assets/mascot-reference.png \
  --dry-run

Generate the images

node scripts/generate-images.mjs \
  --manifest /absolute/path/to/storyboard.json \
  --output /absolute/path/to/images \
  --style-ref assets/style-reference.png \
  --mascot-ref assets/mascot-reference.png \
  --concurrency 4

Completed images are skipped automatically, so running the same command again safely resumes an interrupted batch.

Build the review page

node scripts/build-review.mjs \
  --manifest /absolute/path/to/storyboard.json \
  --images /absolute/path/to/images \
  --output /absolute/path/to/review.html

Customize the result

Tell the skill what should change:

  • “Use fewer frames and combine closely related sentences.”
  • “Use one frame for every sentence.”
  • “Remove the mascot from serious sections.”
  • “Use only contrast and journey compositions.”
  • “Keep every title under four words.”
  • “Use my attached brand colors and character.”

The original script excerpts remain intact in storyboard.json, so you can always trace each image back to the spoken line it represents.

Update the skill

cd ~/.codex/skills/script-to-whiteboard-storyboard
