A collection of Claude Code skills for setting up and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters using kubeadm.
Overview
A collection of Claude Code skills for setting up and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters using kubeadm. These skills provide systematic guidance for: - Preparing nodes for Kubernetes installation - Initializing control plane with kubeadm init - Joining worker/control-plane nodes with kubeadm join - Troubleshooting common cluster issues The easiest way to install these skills is using the skills CLI: This command will automatically download and install the skills to ~/.claude/skills/. Claude Code will then automatically discover them when relevant scenarios arise. Alternatively, you can manually clone this repository to ~/.claude/skills/kubeadm-skills/.

kubeadm Skills
A collection of Claude Code skills for setting up and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters using kubeadm.
Overview
These skills provide systematic guidance for:
- Preparing nodes for Kubernetes installation
- Initializing control plane with
kubeadm init - Joining worker/control-plane nodes with
kubeadm join - Troubleshooting common cluster issues
Skills
| Skill | Description | Use When |
|---|---|---|
| kubeadm-prerequisites | System preparation guide | Preparing nodes, configuring containerd, kernel modules, swap, SELinux |
| kubeadm-init | Control plane initialization | Running kubeadm init, understanding 14 phases, certificate setup |
| kubeadm-join | Node cluster membership | Joining workers/control-plane nodes, TLS bootstrap, token management |
| kubeadm-troubleshooting | Systematic debugging | Init failures, join failures, NotReady nodes, certificate errors |
Quick Start
Typical Cluster Setup Flow
1. kubeadm-prerequisites → Prepare all nodes (control plane + workers)
2. kubeadm-init → Initialize control plane
3. Install CNI → Flannel/Calico (see kubeadm-init skill)
4. kubeadm-join → Join worker nodes
Common Scenarios
| Scenario | Skill to Use |
|---|---|
| “Setting up a new cluster” | Start with kubeadm-prerequisites |
| “kubeadm init failed” | Check kubeadm-troubleshooting |
| “Node shows NotReady” | Check kubeadm-troubleshooting |
| “Worker node won’t join” | Check kubeadm-join → kubeadm-troubleshooting |
| “Token expired” | Check kubeadm-join (Token Management section) |
| “Certificate SAN error” | Check kubeadm-init (Critical Options section) |
| “CRI connection error” | Check kubeadm-prerequisites (containerd section) |
Tested Versions
| Component | Version |
|---|---|
| Kubernetes | 1.32.x |
| containerd | 2.1.x |
| OS | Rocky Linux 10 / RHEL 9 |
Installation
Quick Install
The easiest way to install these skills is using the skills CLI:
npx skills add sigridjineth/claude-kubeadm-skills
This command will automatically download and install the skills to ~/.claude/skills/. Claude Code will then automatically discover them when relevant scenarios arise.
Manual Installation
Alternatively, you can manually clone this repository to ~/.claude/skills/kubeadm-skills/.
Using the Skills
To manually reference a skill:
Use the kubeadm-prerequisites skill to prepare this node.
Skill Structure
Each skill follows the superpowers skill format:

SKILL.md Structure
- Frontmatter: Name and description (triggers skill discovery)
- Overview: Core principle in 1-2 sentences
- When to Use: Specific scenarios and symptoms
- Quick Reference: Tables for scanning common operations
- Common Issues: Symptom → Cause → Fix mappings
- Verification Checklist: Post-completion verification steps

Contributing
To improve these skills:
- Identify gaps through real usage
- Document the specific scenario that wasn’t covered
- Update the relevant SKILL.md with the fix
- Test with a subagent to verify the improvement
Following the superpowers:writing-skills methodology:
- Test skills with realistic scenarios before deployment
- Document exact error messages and symptoms for CSO (Claude Search Optimization)
- Keep descriptions focused on “when to use” not “what it does”
