What Are Claude Code Skills?

Skills are structured prompt files that give Claude Code deep, reusable expertise in specific domains. When a skill is installed, Claude Code automatically activates it based on the context of your task — no manual invocation needed. Each skill contains:

• SKILL.md — The core prompt with rules, patterns, and standards
• references/ — Supporting material (checklists, patterns, service catalogs)
• examples/ — Concrete examples and templates

Installation

1. Clone this repository:

git clone https://github.com/mujez/claude-skills.git

2. Copy the skills you need into your Claude Code skills directory:

# Copy a single skill
cp -r claude-skills/skills/golang-backend ~/.claude/skills/

# Or copy all skills
cp -r claude-skills/skills/* ~/.claude/skills/

3. Claude Code will automatically detect and use the installed skills based on your task context.

Skill Structure

Each skill follows a consistent directory structure:

Contributing

Contributions are welcome. To add a new skill or improve an existing one:

1. Fork the repository
2. Create a new branch for your changes
3. Follow the existing skill structure (SKILL.md + references/ + examples/)
4. Submit a pull request with a clear description of the skill and what it covers

Guidelines

• Keep SKILL.md focused and actionable — rules over theory
• Include concrete examples in the examples/ directory
• Add reference material (checklists, patterns) in references/
• Test the skill with Claude Code before submitting

Security — Verify Skills Before You Install

AI agent skills run with significant permissions on your machine. Malicious or poorly written skills can expose credentials, exfiltrate data, or modify agent behavior persistently. Known attack vectors include:

• Credential theft — skills accessing API keys, SSH keys, wallet private keys, and .env files
• Unsandboxed execution — skills running with full host permissions by default
• Memory poisoning — modifying agent memory files for persistent, multi-stage attacks
• Supply chain compromise — typosquatting and dependency hijacking through skill references
• Social engineering — malicious skills disguised with professional documentation and legitimate-looking functionality
