AgentKit — Complete AI Skills and Developer Platform
Overview
AgentKit is a unified platform for AI agents and coding assistants to discover, install, manage, and use skills, instructions, MCP tools, and developer integrations.
Tech Stack
- Frontend: Next.js 15 + React + TypeScript + Tailwind CSS
- Backend: Express + TypeScript + PostgreSQL
- Auth: JWT + bcrypt password hashing
- MCP: Model Context Protocol SDK
- Database: PostgreSQL (Supabase or self-hosted)
Quick Start
# 1. Copy env template
cp .env.template .env
# 2. Install dependencies
npm install
# 3. Run database migrations
npm run db:migrate
# 4. Seed example data
npm run db:seed
# 5. Start development
npm run dev

Configuration
See .env.template for all configuration options. Required variables:
DATABASE_URL— PostgreSQL connection stringJWT_SECRET— Secret for JWT token signingSUPABASE_URL/SUPABASE_SERVICE_KEY— Supabase credentials (optional)
API Endpoints
Public
GET /health— Health checkGET /v1/skills— List skills with paginationGET /v1/skills/{id}— Get skill detailsGET /v1/skills/{id}/versions— List skill versionsGET /v1/search?q={query}— Search skillsGET /v1/categories— List categoriesGET /v1/clients— List supported clients

Submissions
POST /v1/submissions— Submit skill for reviewGET /v1/submissions— List submissionsPATCH /v1/submissions/{id}— Update submission status
MCP Server
The MCP server is available at /mcp with HTTP transport. Tools include:
search_skills— Search the skill catalogget_skill— Get skill detailsget_skill_manifest— Get skill manifestlist_compatible_clients— List supported clientsget_installation_instructions— Get installation stepslist_skill_versions— List skill versionsget_platform_docs— Get platform documentation
Security
- API keys are hashed with bcrypt
- Rate limiting enforced server-side
- No arbitrary code execution from submitted skills
- Input validation on all endpoints
- Parameterized database queries
- JWT authentication for protected routes
Testing
npm test
Deployment
See websites/docs/vercel.md for Vercel deployment instructions.
See websites/docs/supabase.md for Supabase setup instructions.
Supabase Setup (local development)
- Create a Supabase project at https://supabase.com
- Configure the following environment variables in
.env:SUPABASE_URL=https://your-project.supabase.coSUPABASE_SERVICE_KEY=your_service_role_key
- Run database migrations:
npm run db:migrate - The schema in
backend/migrations/001_init.sqlwill create all required tables
Vercel Deployment (optional, requires explicit permission)
- Install Vercel CLI:
npm i -g vercel - Link your account:
vercel login - Set environment variables in Vercel dashboard:
DATABASE_URLJWT_SECRETSUPABASE_URLSUPABASE_SERVICE_KEY
- Deploy:
vercel --prod
Do not deploy publicly, change DNS, or incur costs without explicit permission.
