Overview

Tailr provides:

• Place discovery and search
• User accounts with session-based authentication
• Social features (posts, comments, likes, follows, saved places)
• Lists, reviews, notifications, and story-like content
• Community place photo uploads (with optional Replit Object Storage integration)

The app runs as a single Node.js service that serves both:

• JSON API routes under /api/*
• The web client (Vite middleware in development, static assets in production)

Getting Started

Prerequisites

• Node.js 20.x
• npm 9+ (or compatible)
• A PostgreSQL database URL (DATABASE_URL)

1) Install dependencies

npm install

2) Configure environment variables

Create a local environment file or set environment variables in your shell/hosting provider.

3) Apply schema to your database
