Dataverse Business Skills

A growing collection of ready-to-use AI agent skills for Microsoft Dataverse. Business skills are natural-language instructions that capture how your organization gets work done — your business processes, policies, and domain knowledge — in a format that agents can understand and follow.

Prerequisites

• Microsoft Dataverse environment (included with Power Apps, Dynamics 365, or Power Platform)
• Dynamics 365 Sales entities provisioned — most skills query tables like opportunity, lead, competitor, and related sales tables
• System Administrator or System Customizer security role (for solution import)

Getting Started

Clone the Repository

git clone https://github.com/microsoft/dataverse-business-skills.git
cd dataverse-business-skills

Option 1: Import the Dataverse Solution (Recommended)

Import the managed solution directly into your environment — no code required.

1. Download msdyn_BusinessSkills_managed.cab from the solutions/ folder
2. Go to Power Apps → Solutions → Import solution
3. Select the .cab file and follow the import wizard
4. Once imported, the skills are available to AI agents in your environment

Option 2: Create Skills Using an AI Agent

If you have an AI agent connected to Dataverse (e.g., GitHub Copilot or Claude Code with the Dataverse MCP Server), you can ask it to create the skills directly:

1. Clone this repo (see above)
2. Ask your agent to read the skill definitions from the skills/ folder
3. Ask it to create each skill in your Dataverse environment

For example:

“Read the SKILL.md files in the skills/ folder and create each one as a business skill in Dataverse.”

The agent will use the name, description, and instructions from each SKILL.md to create the corresponding skills in your environment.

Testing

Test scenarios are provided for most skills in test-scenarios/. Each test file includes data setup instructions, scenarios to try, expected behavior, and validation queries. See the test scenarios README for coverage details and how to run tests.

We welcome contributions — new skills, improvements to existing ones, and additional test scenarios. See CONTRIBUTING.md for guidelines.
